My late model Volvo had a software glitch. The team at Swede Masters determined that with their technology (same as the dealer's service dept) they could likely fix the problem but there was a chance the fix could damage the hardware, potentially leaving me on the hook. Therefore, they advised me to have it repaired at the dealer, under warranty. Their transparency and honesty are appreciated and I will return for non-warranty issues! Now it's the 100 mile trek to the dealer. Sad I can't do it local, but those parts can be expensive!
